I was trying to soothe her and survey the damage but she wouldn't let me look inside her mouth. I was shaking with panic and so lucky that Daddy was there to help calm me. Finally she started to nurse and as she was nursing blood was pooling out the corners of her mouth running down my breast. When she stopped crying and unlatched I could see how swollen her mouth was. I got Daddy to take a look as soon as she was done sucking on a cold cloth and he saw that she had split her frenulum (the piece of skin that joins your lip to your gums) in half and she also had some major bruising on her gums. She ate breakfast fine and then went for a nap but when she awoke I was still nervous that something more could be wrong, we decided to go see the doctor.
When we got to the doctor a nurse took a quick look and decided we should be put into the procedure room, my heart was beating so fast while we waited for the doctor to come and take a look. But everything was fine, the doctor said she would be quite sore, she had indeed torn her frenulum in half and she also has a fairly large blister on her gums, but she will heal fine.
The last few days have been a bit rough for her. If she hits her lip she cries but luckily she doesn't have a problem nursing thank goodness because she is not eating much else.
To think this is the first of many injuries in life.......
:( How will I deal when she has her heart broken for the first time?!!! I will be a mess!
