Fearless...
One of the most amazing things about being Pea's mama is watching her in the water. Ever since the tender age of 6 weeks old Pea has loved every minute of being submerged in water, she has always loved the bath but the swimming pool is where she really shines these days. I watch the surprised reactions of the people around us as Pea fearlessly jumps into the water after telling us she wants to go "DOWN UNDER!" she emerges with a smile, wipes the hair out of her face and we brace for the next jump or dive. When she isn't throwing herself off the edge she runs around the shallow end dunking herself and laughing hysterically. She loves the sprayers and stands underneath them on her own, and she goes down the slide like a seasoned pro, getting mad at us when we grab her before she's had the chance to do the grand finale, the dunk after the slide. Life guards have asked how old she is and wondered what we did to make her so comfortable in the water, truthfully, we have done nothing. Sure we took her swimming at a young age and have taken her often but we never asked her to jump of the edge to us at 18 months old, nor did we try to persuade her to go down the slide and we sure as hell didn't try to dunk her under water on purpose. Pea just has a real genuine love of water, whether it be the pool, the ocean, lake, river or bath at home, she wants to be in it, and the look in her eyes when she is in her element fills my heart with joy.
