Pea has weaned. Yes, you heard me correctly, she is 3 years and 1 months old and she has just weaned, on her own, and I am PROUD. I am proud to say I nursed her for these 3 incredible years, proud to say I made it through pregnancy and nursing and especially I am proud of us and how we worked together to make weaning incredibly gentle and easy to cope with.
To all the naysayers who say that children won't wean on their own, that you will be nursing forever, it is simply not true.
To everyone who made me feel uncomfortable with the fact that I am comfortable nursing a child, thank you for allowing me to trust my instincts and be an advocate for my child.
To Pea, who snuggled me, scratched me, bit me, fell asleep on me in bliss, thank you for this beautiful time. Thank you for such a lovely memory, and thank you for the 2-4 week break I get from nursing before your little brother joins our family!!
And last by not least thank you to all my wonderful friends and family who have always supported me and trusted that I was making the right decision for my family, you are truly invaluable.
