My last post wasn't all that positive but I am feeling pretty good right now about Pea's "spiritedness". She can definitely get a bit demanding and controlling however it rarely escalates to a tantrum, she is pretty easy to talk to and if I present her with fair options she can usually come to agreements on her own terms. When Pea gets worked up about something which usually happens around dinner when my attention is not on her completely she will start to scream at me. We have been working on Pea using her "nice voice" and I have a funny story to go with it.
We have talked with Pea about using the word "please" and how it is a "nice way of asking" for something she wants. We model the behavoir in front of her and like "thank you" we know she will pick up on it sooner rather than later. Anyway lately with all the screaming I have asked her to use her "nice words" when asking mummy instead of yelling and she had started saying "Please Mama" which was so incredibly cute. We were out at a store buying a bike trailer the other day and she wanted to go down and I asked if she could just sit in the sling for a few more minutes and she started getting upset and saying "MAMA NICE!!! NICE!!" hahaa......it was so hard not to laugh. Since then when I ask her to use her nice words she says "Nicely" LOL...again trying hard not to laugh. I guess I thought I was teaching her but as usual I realized that she is teaching me......
