Pea has never been attached to a stuffed animal or blanket, she is pretty fond of her Ted and her doll but nothing like the attachment she has with my armpit. Yes, I just said my ARMPIT! The attachment started at about 6 months of age when Pea would knead my armpit while nursing, she enjoyed having her hand there whenever I carried her in the sling or ergo as well.
The armpit attachment only grew from there and is a daily thing for her. She cannot fall asleep without nursing with her hand in my armpit, kneading me, it's pretty funny. For awhile around 1 year I was having problems trimming her nails and my poor armpit was getting really beaten up but since then I have been able to successfully keep her nails trimmed back so I don't get sliced in the middle of the night...until now.
When Pea goes through a sickness (luckily there haven't been many) or a traumatic experience she really relies on my armpit and since this whole constipation issue she will not let me cut her nails, so my armpit is in rough shape! I was going to take a picture of the damage but because I cannot shave it right now I will not frighten you with the disaster that is my armpit. All I can say is OW! Little cuts everywhere! Baby nails are sharp!!!
The next thing I have on my mind is extended rear facing. When Pea had grown out of her infant car seat we bought a convertible seat that would take her up to 35 lbs rear facing. I could not find any height limit on the seat for rear facing, it just said a height limit for forward facing, so I assumed that the same height applied to rear facing. Apparently this is not so. My friend Tea just bought the same seat and found that it is only good until 32" RF. I thought I'd done my homework but I guess not, glad she was there to inform me. Anyway this afternoon I need to measure Pea and see how much longer she can RF in this seat. I am not turning her FF so the only option will be to get a new seat if she is outgrown it in height, which is a huge pain but safety is the most important thing.
I have a wonderful recipe in the crock pot that I will share later, and I also have some sewing to start thanks to a dear friend who sent me a wonderful little package in the mail...more on that later.
Your poor pits, your such a good mummy Sheena! I love love love that pic too!!
ReplyDeleteyay for extended rear facing, I heard that the rules were going to be changed to 18-24 months RF instead of the now 12 months/20lbs rule. I think it is a good idea to RF as long as possible.
ReplyDeleteOh wow Carlee, that would be great, so many mums aren't aware of the dangers of FF for a small child
