Yes days...

Today was a YES day. I try to have them as often as mentally possible, and well, it's been awhile since our last yes day so it was long overdue.

If you don't know what a yes day is a day where you say YES to everything, really it is something I strive for every day but I don't always succeed. I do find though that I am getting better. Now before you go and wonder whether saying Yes means that you have to let your child do everything imaginable including dangerous things I will tell you it does not. It simply means talking to your child if the answer has to be no and rearranging your words so that you are not saying no but rather creating a new opportunity in which you are able to say yes. Tiring? Yes! But you really do learn to be creative and I find myself saying yes more and more these days and when I do say yes, our day really flows.

So today was a day for saying yes to playing in mud. It was a day for saying yes to Pea really helping me make muffins...not just the type of yes where you tell them they are helping while they hold and empty spoon and bowl. It was the actual kind of helping where they get covered in flour and sticky with oil and you can't pick up your camera to take a picture because they are running at your dog like a crazy person drenching everything in flour. What a fun day we had...it was a refreshing, sunny, beautiful YES day.

I know I have said it before but I will say it again. I am so lucky and so thankful to have this beautiful little soul in my life, she makes me into the kind of person I have always wanted to be.
Now it's time to snuggle that beautiful girl and go to sleep.
