I love my mum!

I was very lucky to have my mum come up and stay with us for 2 days, we had a lot of fun together and I am sad that she went home today. It's so great to have family visit but bittersweet at the same time, it just reminds me that we don't live as close as we would like to our families, and it can be hard to say goodbye. We had a good visit though, she came down because I needed her help for an appointment but we also got some shopping in as well, what I really should say is that my mum (& Dad even though he wasn't there) totally spoiled me.
It's my birthday in about a week and she took me shopping!! Not only did she take me shopping but she didn't complain when I was trying on clothes and she was chasing Pea around the store, in fact she loved it and Pea loved it too. She bought me a gorgeous pair of shoes and a comfy but stylish pair of pants. I am so thankful to have some new clothes to wear, I am getting sick of my daily yoga pants with tee shirt attire.

Onto the subject of the appointment I had. If you would rather not read about lactating breasts I suggest you just skip out of the next two paragrahs! Around xmas I got mastitis (breast infection, in my case caused by a plugged milk duct) it was super painful and I had a fever and the shakes for 12 hours, once that subsided I thought the plug had come through but it continued to bug me. I tried warm compresses and nursing in all different positions as well as a hand pump and hand expression and it still wouldn't break free. After a month or so of trying to get it to break I decided to go see my doctor because I was starting to worry that something else was going on. My doctor found a small lump in my breast but couldn't tell if it was a blocked duct or not and because there has been breast cancer in my family he decided to send me for an urgent ultrasound. It took a month to get an appointment and in that time I started taking Lecithin daily, it seemed to be working and I actually considered canceling the appointment because I thought it was gone but I knew better, it's always good to rule out other things. I noticed that even though I wasn't having pain, it still didn't feel normal. That breast however, has always had a lot of milk and a strong let down and I was still getting a let down just not the total spray and soak my shirt kind (which I was thankful for!) so I thought that my milk supply might have FINALLY regulated itself after 22 months of nursing.
Last night I had a restless sleep, it's hard to sleep when you are subconsciously doing the "what if.." game all night.

The lady at that did the breast imaging at the hospital was really nice, she reassured me that my intuition was right and I did have a plugged duct. She also showed me the scan and I cannot believe how much milk is trapped in there, it was fascinating to see the milk ducts and the milk sloshing around in the area that is plugged. Weird..yes. Anyway it seems I have had this plug for some time and I have to get rid of it....I am thinking the next step is ultrasound as a treatment. Wish me luck..this has really been a pain in my boob for way too long!!

On a totally different note I am learning to meditate and I haven't had a chance yet today so I am off. More on that later.
